Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipsticks in Prom Night, Redrum, and I’m Royalty
I picked up the first three shades of the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipsticks when they first launched last year and keep forgetting to get a review of them up. When the line first launched there were only three shades: Prom Night, Redrum, and I’m Royalty. Since then, many more shades have been launched and I’m pretty excited to get some of the newer shades soon!
The applicator is a big fluffy doe foot. It’s bigger and fluffier than most doe foot applicator’s I’ve seen but I’m still able to get a pretty clean line with it.
All three shades are incredibly pigmented and pretty opaque. The formula is thin and liquidy with no real cushion to it and I can get fully opaque coverage usually in a single coat. I do find it to feel a little dry on the lips but I don’t feel like it dries them out if that makes much sense. I’d just recommend using a lip balm underneath them.
They’re all very long lasting and leave a stain behind. If I don’t eat anything oily they generally last comfortably for 6-8 hours. I do find them to be a little uncomfortable once the balm I wear under them fully absorbs and is gone. You can put a gloss over them but that kills the longevity. They are mostly transfer-proof; I don’t have any transfer when drinking or eating. They’re definitely not make-out proof though. They might survive a quick kiss or two but a New Year’s Eve makeout session with Redrum on left me looking a little bit like the Joker.
These are 0.19 oz and retail for $18. For reference the Kat von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks are $20 for 0.22 oz so these are a tiny bit more expensive per ounce.
I’d definitely recommend giving them a try if you’re a liquid lipstick lover! More and more shades keep coming out so I’d highly recommend you follow @jeffreestarcosmetics on Instagram if you want to find out about new shade launches.
