Ipsy August "Prep School" Glam Bag

Ipsy August “Prep School” Glam Bag

Ipsy’s Glam Bag is a beauty subscription service that sends out 5-6 deluxe samples or full sized products every month in a cute makeup bag for $10. Bags are customizable based on your beauty preferences and ratings of past samples. You can check out my past Ipsy reviews here or subscribe to Ipsy here! They do have a waitlist but every now and then they have a skip the waitlist thing where it takes just a few easy steps to skip the queue and start getting your bag.

August’s Ipsy Glam Bag was “Prep School” themed. I get that August is back to school time so I guess the theme makes sense, but their annual back to school themes are just one more reminder that Ipsy’s main demographic is probably significantly younger than me.

Marc Anthony Nourishing Argan Oil of Morocco Oil Treatment – I’m always happy to get hair treatments in subscriptions. My hair needs all the moisturizing it can get! I can’t find this exact named product online anywhere but the Marc Anthony site which doesn’t actually sell products. It looks similar to the True Professional Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Treatment which is 1.69 oz and ranges from $6-7.50 at drugstores and mass retailers so I’ll estimate this 0.7 oz sample at $2.49.

This treatment is a lightweight oil used daily for strong, glossy, frizz-free hair. Whether your hair is curly, straight, thick or thin, this Argan Oil Treatment will become a daily staple in your beauty regimen.

Created with Mediterranean Olive Oil and Moroccan Argan Oil – the ancestral beauty secret of Morocco – it deeply penetrates to fortify, protect and condition hair. Vitamin E and Shea Butter hydrate and soften.

‘Pencil Me In’ Cosmetics Natural Eyeliner Pencil in Boysenberry – I’m so sick of the eyeliner I get in my Ipsy bags. I’m pretty sure this is the third blue one I’ve gotten in a year. I think this is full sized and retails for $6.99.

Pencil Me In natural eyeliner pencils go on silky smooth and will last all day. The natural formula is infused with vitamins and anti-oxidants so the skin is actually receiving a benefit. There are 30 fun colors to choose from; plus each pencil comes with a built-in sharpener in the cap.

Hikari Cosmetics Lip Gloss in Salsa – Yet another Hikari product in my glam bag. I’m probably exaggerating a little here but I feel like I get them almost every month. The color looks decent though I haven’t tried it yet to see the pigmentation. This is full sized and worth $13.

Check out Hikari’s collection of gorgeous, high-shine matte lip glosses. With these high-pigment lip glosses you can wear them alone or layer them over your favorite lipstick to create intense new colors. They will give you the perfect sultry lip with just the right amount of shine!

LATHER ultra mild face wash – Face wash samples make me happy. This one’ll probably last me 2-3 weeks. This product is $19 for 6 fl oz so this 1 oz sample is worth $3.16.

This cleanser is the perfect solution for those who want to cleanse with a foaming preparation yet do not want to strip their skin of its natural emollients. It has gentle surfactants and soothing botanical extracts that leave the skin glowing, ready for toner and moisturizer. Sulfate- and paraben-free.

Lord & Berry ultimate lipcolor and liner in nude – Another brown lipliner. Eh. The full size is 0.07 oz and retails for $18 so this 0.03 oz travel size is worth $8.14.

This ultimate lipliner is the original Lord & Berry lip pencil. It’s easy-to-use and its formula softens and protects the skin with the nutrients from macadamia oil and waterlily extracts. You can line your lips and fill them in using this pencil- finish with a lipgloss or lipstick or a more dramatic look.

This bag had a total value of $33.78 which is the lowest value bag I’ve ever received by about $5. It also has yet another blue eyeliner, brown lip liner, and Hikari product. I’m less and less thrilled with Ipsy every month and this August bag finally did me in. I feel like Ipsy’s target demographic is the teen girl crowd. I’m pretty sure my (much) younger cousin would love them but after a year of subscribing I’m over it. I already know my tastes in makeup and I can get better skincare and haircare samples from Birchbox. I’ve unsubscribed.
