I finally have the Innocent + Twisted Alchemists sub up for review! I never seem to be able to catch up. If only work would calm down a little bit…
Innocent+Twisted Alchemy offers two different subscriptions, a full size and a sample size. I have the full sized sub which is $18 in the US and $22 for international subscribers and includes 3-4 full sized items that are exclusive ONLY to the subscriptions and a 35% off coupon code valid for that month. You can check out my past I+TA subscription reviews here.
This month’s subscription was tea party themed. The artwork for the month’s sub is awesome as always!
Come inside and enjoy the aromatic teas. Pick out your favorite teacups and tea pots. Throw on a giant floppy hat (Okay, maybe not! BUT YOU COULD!) and enjoy the savory delights and decadent desserts.
While you’re at it, head on over to Betsy and give her some support for the theme that she helped create:
Shortcake Fantasy – Pale petaley pink with a silvery white sheen. this was smooth and buttery and a dream to apply!
Teacups & Scones – Light taupe with golden and green shimmer. This is a little thinner in pigmentation than Shortcake Fantasy but it builds nicely. The gold and green combined shimmer gives it a kind of an antique gold feeling.
Seeping Petals – Dusty brown base with tons of bronze shimmer. This is very pigmented but a little… I don’t want to say the texture is gritty but it’s not smooth either. I’d say it’s a little bit like fine ground sugar while the other two shades were powdered sugar if that makes sense?
Rainbow Bit (Chirp Cosmetics) – This is an almost metallic white with pastel rainbow sparkle. It’s incredibly thick and pigmented!
Sugar Pop (Wonderland Beauty Cosmetics) – Pastel purple with peacock sparkle. You know I love ‘dem purples and this is no exception. It’s very pigmented and smooth.
Circus Treat (Kiss My Sass) – This looks like an orange creamsicle in the tube and is a sheer orangey shade applied. It’s got a hint of a candyish smell that I can’t quite put my finger on. It’s exclusive to this sub. Unfortunately the packaging is defective and it doesn’t twist up. Kiss My Sass is a brand I’m familiar with though and I saw the owner post in the private Facebook group that she was aware of the issues and was looking for an alternative packing distributor so hopefully she gets that resolved. It’s nicely moisturizing and I might melt it into a clamshell for use.
Mamey (Kae Q) – Orangey red. I’m not familiar with Kae Q so I’m not sure if this is supposed to be a lipstick or a balm but it’s a thin balmy kind of feel. Because it’s sheer it’s a little patchy/streaky for me but I always have issues with sheer lippies. There’s no real scent except for that generic cosmeticy smell.
The sub theme is cute and for once isn’t super nerdy/niche and is accessible to pretty much everyone. For the record I love the nerdy stuff, but I’m a super nerd and I recognize that not everyone may be into it or get all the nerd references in the subs from month to month. The sub feels pretty cohesive and the neutral palette is a departure from most of the months I’ve gotten the sub which is nice. I looooove my colorful colors but once in awhile a neutral is nice.
July was my last month on the full sized subscription. I cancelled so that I could resubscribe to the mini size as it just takes me too long to go through full sized shadows to justify. My sub never got sent out with the July batch though but Linda caught it a week or two later and shot me an email apologizing and saying she’d send it out. It was the period between my full size cancellation and when the available spots for the next month opened up so she included what she already had for August’s sub in with my July shipment and I’ve resubbed on the mini sub for September. Life had been completely nuts those weeks and with the pile of boxes I have for sub reviews to catch up on I hadn’t realized it was missing. I really love that Linda noticed the error on her own and reached out to me proactively. Her customer service really is amazing!
