Birchbox June 2015 "Say Yes!"

Birchbox June 2015 “Say Yes!”

Birchbox is $10 for about 5 beauty or lifestyle products, usually deluxe samples but sometimes you get a full sized product. Most months you can choose between a guest editor curated box or pick one of your samples from 3-4 sample choices and the rest of the box will be based on your ratings and preferences. You can subscribe to Birchbox here or check out my previous Birchbox reviews here.

June’s Birchbox was “Say Yes!” What they had to say:

Adventure is a state of mind. It’s about exploring the unknown, dreaming beyond the horizon, and letting go of the word “no.” What’s on your list? Scuba diving with sharks? Sleeping under the stars (hey, your backyard counts)? Here’s to adventures big and small, near and far.

This month I opted for a specific sample choice instead of the featured box.

Info Card

Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow – I’ve yet to find a BB cream I’m in love with and this one has pretty amazing reviews on the Birchbox site so I’m happy to give this one a try. I’m glad the sample is big enough to get a few uses out of, too! The full size is $27 for 1.6 oz so this 0.24 oz sample is worth about $4.05.

WHAT: This multitasker, rich in antioxidants and aloe, covers imperfections, evens tone, and calms skin.

Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner – Sorry Birchbox, but I’m kind of over eyeliners in subscription boxes. While I’m glad it’s not black I’m pretty sure I’ve gotten 3 or 4 other blue liners between Birchbox and Ipsy. My sister will probably like it though! The full size is $11 for 1.2 g so this 0.8 g sample is worth about $7.33.

WHAT: This blendable waterproof eyeliner goes on smoothly and stays put all day.

Number 4 super Comb Prep & Protect – I am always down to try a new protecting and conditioning leave in product, especially one made for color treated hair! Apparently it’s got a “unique UV/Color Polar Shield” to protect color treated hair from sun damage. Can’t wait to try this! The full size is $32 for 200 ml so this 30 ml sample is worth $4.80.

WHAT: This sulfate-free, botanical-rich leave-in conditioner safeguards color, strengthens, and nourishes.

Supergoop! Everyday SPF 50 with Cellular Response Technology – This was my sample choice for the month and I’m really excited to give it a shot. I have a hard time finding skincare products with SPF that don’t break me out or make me feel greasy and this product sounds pretty darn amazing. Being as pale as I am and with my family history of skin cancer SPF 50 is great for me! The 2.4 oz retails for $19 so this 0.34 oz sample is worth about $2.69. There’s also an 18 oz jug that retails for $48 if you like to buy your sunscreen in bulk!

WHAT: This lightweight sunscreen provides water-resistant, SPF 50+ protection anywhere you need it.

TOCCA Eau de Parfum in Isabel – I adore TOCCA’s perfumes and their packaging is so amazing! I haven’t tried Isabel yet but her scent description intrigues me! The full size is 1.7 oz and retails for $68 which is fairly reasonable for a good perfume. This 0.05 oz sample is worth about $2. I’m normally not a big fan of these tiny perfume vials in my subscriptions but I’ll let it pass this time. TOCCA is just such a unique brand!

WHAT: With notes of rose, orange, and amber, this chic and complex scent draws you in.

SARAHPOTEMPA Darby Clip – This was a bonus item in the box. It’s a big hair clip to section your hair while curling, straightening, or styling. One clip doesn’t do me a whole lot of good and I’m guessing the idea here was to make you need more to actually be able to do much with it. A pack of 4 retails for $16 so this 1 clip is worth about $4.

WHAT: We’ve added this clip from SARAHPOTEMPA for easy sectioning and styling.

This was a pretty darn good selection of products and I think they convey the theme’s spirit of adventure pretty well as they’re a selection of hair, skincare, and makeup products you need to get ready in a jiffy if you’re out on a trip. This box is worth a combined $24.87 which is definitely on the low end of the boxes I’ve received but I’m still really happy with it! I’ll use most of the products and they made a nice cohesive box.
