Birchbox + Rifle Paper Co. April 2015 Box

Birchbox + Rifle Paper Co. April 2015 Box

Birchbox is $10 for about 5 beauty or lifestyle products, usually deluxe samples but sometimes you get a full sized product. Most months you can choose between a guest editor curated box or pick one of your samples from 3-4 sample choices and the rest of the box will be based on your ratings and preferences. You can subscribe to Birchbox here or check out my previous Birchbox reviews here.

April’s Birchbox was a collaboration with Rifle Paper Co. I absolutely love the visual design of this box! For April I wasn’t thrilled with the curated guest editor box (I rarely am it seems) nor was I particularly thrilled with the sample choices. Let’s take a look at what I got.

Jouer Tint in Petal – This was my sample choice for the month. It’s a cream product – too creamy for me to use on my face in fact. After sitting awhile it develops a few beads of moisture on the top which makes it way too oily for me to use on my breakout prone face. That moisture is a benefit on my lips though so I may still get some use out of this sample. The 0.07 oz full size retails for $22 so this 0.03 oz sample is worth about $9.43.

Two-in-one pigment that gives lips and cheeks a wash of creamy color.

LAQA & Co. Sheer Lip Lube Pencil in Honeypot – This is the second Lip Lube pencil I’ve gotten from Birchbox. The formula is nice and moisturizing but this shade is so sheer it doesn’t appear on my lips at all. It might be good to toss in my purse makeup bag though for quick on the go needs. The 0.1 oz full size retails for $20 so this 0.07 oz sample is worth $14.

Perfect for spring, this high-gloss, semisheer lip color glides on buttery-smooth.

Obliphica Professional Treatment Hair Serum – I’m always happy to try a new hair serum, especially one targeted for dry and damaged hair. My coloring process does take its toll on my strands so I was happy to get this to try out. Unfortunately mine leaked during shipping so the bottle is only about half full. I should still be able to get enough uses out of it to decide if I like it though. The full size is $38 for 2.2 oz so this 0.5 oz sample is worth roughly $8.64.

This antioxidant-rich formula repairs and protects dry, damaged strands, plus adds shine.

Vasanti Cosmetics BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator – My face really loves exfoliation so I’m happy to try a new exfoliating cleanser, especially one so highly rated on Birchbox’s site. The full size is $34 for 4.23 oz so this 20 gram (0.7 oz) sample is worth about $5.63.

This customer fave mimics the effects of microdermabrasion for glowing, smooth skin.

Whish Shave Crave Shaving Cream in Blueberry – I’m a little tired of getting Whish Shave Crave in subscription boxes. I think this is the 4th or 5th sample I’ve gotten. The 150 ml full size is worth $20 so this 22 ml sample is worth $2.93 though this definitely goes in the swap pile.

A shea butter-packed shaving cream with a delectable scent.

This box is worth about $40.63 which is my second highest monetary value box to date. I’m not super thrilled by the products I received but I’ll get some use out of most of them. I think I’m most excited to have heard of Rifle Paper Co. I do love great stationary and can’t wait to check out their stuff!
