I’m Back!

The last two months have been beyond crazy! Over the last year or two I’ve been picking one area of my life each year and focusing the year on making little improvements there. It beats New Year’s Resolutions (I mean, come on who keeps those anyway?) and gives me a little wiggle room to work on whichever part of the bigger picture is right at the time. The last few years I’ve gotten my finances and career in order, worked on my mental and spiritual health… this year my goal is on my physical self and health.

I’ve been overweight for most of my adult life. At my highest weight I was flat out obese. When I moved 2 years ago to finally be on my own with no roomies and able to dictate my own kitchen a little more easily I lost about 40 lbs on my own through little diet changes – I cut out soda and fast food, nixed the sugar binges. Then I plateaued and for about a year held the same weight. While I was happy to maintain it (I’d never been able to maintain before and always gained back) I wasn’t making more progress.

In April I joined a bootcamp challenge program at a local gym to get over that plateau and meet my next physical health goal. The challenge was to lose 20 lbs in 6 weeks under their meal and exercise plan. I successfully lost 22 lbs! It was a big lifestyle change but it’s so worth it.

I didn’t have much time for my blog while I was in challenge mode though so I’m way behind on things now and I’m getting ready to start challenge #2. I think I’ll be able to do a better job of time management this time around though now that I’ve been through it once and know what I’m doing. Hopefully this means I’ll be able to catch up on posts and be more active on my other projects.
