Ipsy Glam Bag - "Thinking of You"

Ipsy Glam Bag – “Thinking of You”

December’s Ipsy glam bag theme is “Thinking of You.”

Beauty Without Cruelty A.H.A. 3% Facial Cleanser – this is supposedly a “soap-free” cleanser that exfoliates dead surface skin to clarify, condition, and calm. It smells a lot like my Simple moisturizing face wash which I’m almost out of so this arrived just in time. The full size is $11.95 for 8.5 fl oz so this 2 oz sample is worth about $2.81. Ipsy also has a coupon code for Beauty Without Cruelty’s website. Enter CGWXUYET for 15% off through 1/31/15.

Crown Brush Infinity Shadow/Crease Duet Brush – I always need more makeup brushes! I’m not fond of double ended brushes for daily use as it feels weird to have one side sitting in the bottom of my brush cup getting squished or dirty. That being said, I was wanting a brush to put in my Urban Decay Smoked palette (it came with an eyeliner not a brush) so this should work for that! This brush goes for $6.99. Ipsy has a code for the Crown Brush website for 30% off a $25 purchase until 1/31/15 with code IPSY30.

NYX Cosmetics Butter Lip Balm in Red Velvet – I used to be a huge lip balm girl but these days I only wear it at night and on days I’m not going anywhere, so this balm will last me ages. It’s very moisturizing and more pigmented than the average balm. There were 4 possible colors subscribers could have gotten, Red Velvet (pure red), Parfait (fuchsia with blue undertones), Marshmallow (pure nude) or Lady Fingers (mauve). This is worth $4. Ipsy has a discount code for the NYX site for 25% off NYX Glam Collection products through 1/31/15 with code NYXGLITZ.

Pixi by Petra Fairy Dust in Brightening Bare – This is a loose pigment. It’s supposed to be shimmery and looks shimmery in the jar, but on me it looks more satin than shimmery. It’s a medium nude shade. It’s incredibly dusty and the applicator in the jar is pretty horrid so you’re probably better knocking the product off onto a palette or something and then applying it with a real brush. A lot of people on Ipsy were complaining that it looked like the applicator had been previously used; it did look like that on first glance for me, but once I cleaned all the product off of it I realized it’s because the applicator is black so you have a black sponge covered in nude pigment… of course it looks dirty. Bad product design choice, that. I can’t get the Pixi site to stay on the US version, but it retails for £10 on the Pixi UK site which as of this moments converts to $15.72. Ipsy has a code for the Pixi website. Enter code PIXIDUST for 20% off your purchase through 1/31/15 (though again, I can’t get the Pixi site to stay on the US version so I couldn’t order even if I wanted to).

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara – I’ve heard good things about this mascara but have never tried it before so I’m glad to have this sample. As mascara samples go it’s smaller than I’m used to, but should be enough for a couple of uses. This is $20 for 0.24 fl. oz so this 0.10 fl. oz sample is worth about $8.33. Ipsy has a code for 20% off the Tarte website through 1/8/15. Use code IPSYDEC at checkout.

The bag is also super cute and incredibly functional. I like that it’s got a flat bottom unlike any of my previous Ipsy bags so it’ll actually stand up on its own and holds more product than the average Ipsy bag. Really like this one!

And now on to….. swatches!

Top to bottom: NYX Butter Balm (1 swipe), NYX Butter Balm (5 swipes), Pixi Fairy Dust.

Top to bottom: NYX Butter Balm (1 swipe), NYX Butter Balm (5 swipes), Pixi Fairy Dust.

The NYX Butter Balm is pretty sheer so I’ve given two swatches above, one with a single swipe (top) and one with 5 swipes (middle). It’s more pigmented than the usual balm so it’s a decent thing to keep around for those last minute running out the door days. The Pixi Fairy Dust is at the bottom.

This bag has a retail value of about roughly $37.85 minus the bag. Actual value may be different depending on what the Fairy Dust actually retails for here in the US. That’s a pretty great value and is one of the higher value glam bags I’ve gotten. While I’m not super thrilled about any individual item, I’ll definitely use them all and am by no means disappointed in this month. It was definitely a good one for Ipsy and those are all pretty great discount codes!

You can check out my past Ipsy reviews here or subscribe to Ipsy here! They do have a waitlist but every now and then they have a skip the waitlist thing where it takes just a few easy steps to skip the queue and start getting your bag.
