Urban Decay Smoked Palette Swatches

The Urban Decay Smoked Palette is currently on sale at my local Ulta for $20 (it usually retails for $49 and is currently $29 on the Ulta website). The 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion alone is worth $20 so I couldn’t pass this one up since I needed another eye pencil anyway!

Unlike most UD palettes the case is slightly padded and zips making it perfect for travel! As a bonus it came with a travel-size Eyeshadow Primer Potion and a booklet with step by step instructions to create 12 smokey eye looks and an explanation of a few key terms.

The palette contains 10 eyeshadows which are .03 oz each (a full size shadow from Urban Decay is .05 oz). There are 4 mattes and 6 shimmers. Below are swatches in 5 different lighting conditions.

The colors in the top row from left to right are: Kinky, Freestyle, Mushroom, Backdoor, Blackout.

Kinky is a matte off-white shade. It doesn’t show up very well on my skin but would make a beautiful highlight shade. It applies very smoothly but I had to really load it on to build it up enough to photograph so it’s not super pigmented.

Freestyle is a matte peach shade that again doesn’t show up well on my skin alone but would make a gorgeous transition color. It also is very smooth in application. It’s more pigmented than Kinky but still had to be built up.

Mushroom is a shimmery metallic gray. It’s a touch on the taupey side. It applies nicely and is very pigmented.

Backdoor is a matte brown. It’s a very dark earthy brown. It is was powdery and needed to be blended well to be smooth.

Blackout is a matte black. Like Backdoor it was powdery and I really needed blend well to get a smooth swatch.

The colors in the bottom row from left to right are: Barlust, Rockstar, Evidence, Loaded, and Asphalt.

Barlust is a shimmery copper. It is highly pigmented and goes on nice and smoothly.

Rockstar is a shimmery purple. It’s my favorite shade in the palette! It’s also highly pigmented and smooth in application.

Evidence is a shimmery blue. It’s highly pigmented but was a little more powdery to apply than the rest of the shimmers.

Loaded is a shimmery green. It’s a very dark green, his highly pigmented and applies pretty nicely.

Asphalt is a shimmery gunmetal gray. It’s very pigmented but also a tiny bit powdery going on.
