Ipsy Glam Bag “Girl Meets Glitter” – November 2014

Self-Purchased | Affiliate Links

This month’s Ipsy Glam Bag is title “Girl Meets Glitter” and mine delivered on the shimmery glittery goodness!

Be a Bombshell Cosmetics Eye Base in Submissive – This is supposed to be a base to use underneath your eyeshadow or as a cream shadow by itself. The shade I received is a bronzey taupey shade. It’s very creamy and has a great shimmer to it! I have very oily eyelids to I tend to stay away from cream shadows as they crease on me, but I like the way this swatches and will probably give it a shot on my lids. Definitely not letting it get near my crease. I believe this might be full sized? If so it’s worth $14.

J. Cat Beauty Wonder Lip Paint in Red Potion – Wonder Lip Paint is a liquid lipstick/stain. I’ve seen it listed places as being a cheaper dupe for OCC Lip Tar. While it’s definitely not the same as lip tar (I’m hoping to do a comparison post some time soon) I already own other shades and it is a fairly nice product. I didn’t have this shade yet and I’m happy to have it now. Subscribers could have gotten 2 possible shades and I already had the other shade so I got pretty lucky getting this one. This is full size and retails for $4.99. Ipsy also has a coupon for 25% off at the J.Cat website with the code “25JCAT”. Code is valid through 12/31/14.

Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Volume Shine Hairspray – This is a volumizing hair spray with Moroccan argan oil to nourish and provide shine. I’ve never used it before and generally don’t use much hair spray so travel sizes are perfect for me. I’m excited to see how this does for me. The full size is 9 oz and retails for $8.29 at Walgreens so this 1.5 oz. sample is worth about $1.60.

Starlooks Gem Eye Pencil in Ultra Orchid – This pencil is incredibly soft and creamy! It’s highly pigmented. It’s supposed to be metallic with micro-glitter but I don’t see the metallic much, just the fine silver micro-glitter. It blends out pretty well. I’ve never used Starlooks liners before but I like the way this one swatched and am looking forward to using it. This pencil is full size and retails for $17. Subscribers could have gotten one of 2 possible colors, both of which are new for Fall. Ipsy also has a coupon for 20% off at the Starlooks website with the code “IPSY”. Code is valid through 12/31/14.

Temptu S/B Highlighter in Pink Pearl – This is a pearlescent liquid highlighter. It’s very concentrated. A little goes a long way so go easy on it. This will be a beautiful highlight for winter. I’ve never used a liquid highlighter before and to be honest I don’t contour and highlight much for every day looks so the small sample will last me ages. The full size is 1 oz. and retails for $27 so this 0.1 oz. is worth about $2.70  Ipsy also has a coupon for 25% off at the Temptu website with the code “IPSY”. Code is valid through 12/31/14.

The bag this month is a silver glitter bag with fuchsia zipper. It’s fairly nice quality. A tag on the inside says “Forever 21 Cosmetics for Ipsy.” I like that the glitter is within the material of the bag and not a surface treatment so it won’t get all over you. This is my favorite of the Ipsy  bags I’ve received so far.

Here are swatches of the 4 cosmetic products (sorry for the lighting on this one!):

From top to bottom: Starlooks pencil basic line, Starlooks pencil smudged, Be A Bombshell eye base, Temptu highlighter (it’s almost impossible to see in photos but trust me, it’s a beautiful pearl), and the J. Cat lip paint.

The total value of this month’s glam bag for me is about $40.30 without the bag which I don’t have a retail value for. This is the first month that I can honestly say that I’ll use everything I got in the bag. I’m really pleased with this month!

You can check out my past Ipsy reviews here or subscribe to Ipsy here! They do have a waitlist but every now and then they have a skip the waitlist thing where it takes just a few easy steps to skip the queue and start getting your bag.
