Fall Lipstick Picks

I’ve dug through my lipstick stash and picked out my favorites for Fall. I realize that half the country’s been in Winter mode for the last week but here in SoCal Fall has barely started. So today I’ve got 5 high end lipsticks and 5 drugstore products. I’d swatch these on my lips but I’ve been sick for the last week and am not wearing anything but basic chapstick until I beat this bug.

Here are the drugstore products. From left to right: J.Cat Wonder Lip Paint in Mad Splatter, Ulta Lipstick in Raisin (215 Cream), Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick in Berry Rose (500), NYX Extra Creamy Round Lipstick in Violet Ray (561), and NYX Extra Creamy Round Lipstick in Doll (635).

Mad Splatter is a really bright fuchsia berry and is a little out of character for this set but I’m absolutely in love with the shade and hey, you can’t completely get rid of bright shades this time of year! The Ulta Raisin is a nice berried brown shade; it looks like it has a slight shimmer in the tube but that doesn’t really come across once it’s on me. The Rimmel Berry Rose is a little pinker than anything else I’ve got here but I’m loathe to give up pinks entirely; it’s definitely a more berry pink and I think it’ll still work for Fall. NYX Violet Ray is a really beautiful violet cranberry shade; I’m really loving this one. NYX Doll is almost like Fall’s take on coral; it’s more orange than the raisin but not quite red; I liked it when I bought it but I really love it now after wearing it a few times!

Here are the high end products. From left to right: Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Rapture, Too Faced Melted Liquid Lipstick in Fig, OCC Lip Tar in Stalker, OCC Lip Tar in Vintage, OCC Lip Tar in Black Dahlia.

When I first got the UD Rapture sample early in the Summer I wasn’t a big fan, then the season shifted and I’m thinking I need to go get the full size. Too Faced Fig has been on my lips more than any other color lately (at least until I got sick)’ it’s Fall in a tube! I’m totally obsessed with OCC Lip Tars so of course there are 3 here (and keep in mind they’re made to mix together to make custom shades). Stalker is described by OCC as a “true blue based red” but it comes off a bit more pink on me. Vintage is a beautiful burgundy that’s a bit more on the red side. Black Dahlia is a blackened burgundy; next to Fig this is my second most-worn color so far this season.
